The WorldView-2 image shows the northwestern part of Sentosa, south of Singapore, which over the years has developed into a remarkable recreational island. The main connection with Singapore is by the wide multiple lanes of Sentosa Gateway, near the eastern margin of the image. Next to it is the Sentosa Boardwalk and a rail connection. It is also possible to visit Sentosa by cable car, the station and the end pillar for which is located at the centre of the image. The island is served by north-south running bus and train routes, passing a white statue of Merlion. The area in the image is designed to provide specialised recreation services including hotels, marine parks, and exhibitions. Opportunities for physical activities, such as jungle trails and beach walks, are prominent in the southern part of the image. Managed sandy beaches between headlands, offering a range of adventurous facilities, are characteristic of the southern coast of the island.
