RESEARCH SCIENTIST in 3D Radiative Transfer Modeling for Solar Applications
The successful candidate will conduct R&D in environmental/atmospheric/climate modelling and will be expected to participate actively in remote sensing technology development and application projects. He/she will receive an appointment at CRISP's atmospheric research group. The initial appointment will be for two years renewable for a further one year. Further employment prospects at CRISP would depend on performance and funding.
CRISP in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE, NUS), the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) and the Meteorological Service of Singapore (MSS) will be taking on a research project titled “Advanced Solar Power Forecasting for safe and reliable PV grid integration in Singapore”. CRISP’s participation in this project involves the development of advanced pseudo-dynamic, cloud coupled 1D/3D radiative transfer algorithms for short and medium term solar irradiance forecasting. Part of the project will require the development of cloud motion algorithms based on medium and high resolution satellite imagery, sky imagers, ground-based scanning lidars and near-real time meteorological fields provided by NWP models. Cloud-motion algorithms will then be coupled to 1D/3D radiative transfer calculations to provide time-series of hemispherical ground radiances and integrated ground fluxes.
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Leave and medical benefits will be provided. CPF contributions (where applicable) will also be provided. Application forms may be downloaded at this page. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a CRISP job application form, a cover letter and a personal CV/resume, a list of related peer-reviewed publications with a maximum of two actual samples of your best work and two letters of recommendation. All materials may be sent electronically (PDF format) to Dr. Santo V. Salinas C. (e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org). Letters of recommendation should be mailed directly by your adviser and/or recommender’s to:
