The shinning round dome and geometric lower roof of the Central Market (Psar Thmei) of Phnom Penh dominate the image. South of the Central Market is the Sorya Shopping Centre, a high rise building with shops and a food court. Major roads radiate from the Central Market. Boulevard Charles de Gaulle extends to the southwest, starting with the Sorya Bus Station with waiting buses visible in bays. Monivong Boulevard, a major north-south artery of Phnom Penh crosses Boulevard Charles de Gaulle at the end of the first block. A third major road of Phnom Penh, the Russian Boulevard with its green median strip, cuts across the northern edge of the image. A major taxi park is visible near this boulevard and northwest of the Central Market. Large commercial buildings are common round the market. In contrast, densely packed low buildings with sloping roofs cover the southwest and the south. The northwest of the image shows large houses and isolated green spaces.
