The image shows part of the community of Mandurah and the surrounding region, south of Perth in Western Australia. The coastal town stretches inland from a line of J-shaped beaches and a long spit that encloses a lagoon. Mandurah is a coastal community rich in recreational facilities: golf courses, yacht marinas, boat channels, and piers leading to prosperous residences. Urbanization is spreading inland along the shores of the lagoon where new residences, sport facilities and construction sites are replacing wetlands. A well-developed road network, including highways, shows up clearly.
