This image of part of Georgetown on the island of Penang has been rotated 210 degrees for better three-dimensional viewing. The tall tower in the centre is Komtar, a huge shopping mall. Next to Komtar are a multipurpose hall with a geodesic dome for the roof and Traders Hotel. Beyond are more shopping centres including Prangin Mall. The long-distance coach terminus and local bus station complete this central complex which is flanked by the busy Jalan Penang to the west, Jalan Maxwell to the north, and the houses and roads of a very old city neighbourhood to the south. Most of the image displays the old established Georgetown of tightly packed urban blocks of small houses with red roofs and narrow streets. The other striking features in the image are the blue-grey renovated police headquarters to the extreme north, originally built in art deco style before the Second World War, and the new shopping centre of Penang Times Square towards the southwest.
