Kukup is a small settlement, originally (and still partly) on stilts over the water, on the coast of Malacca Strait towards the very south of the Malay Peninsula. This image shows Kukup at low tide; the sea comes up to the green mangroves when the tide is high. Offshore, part of a low island with mangrove is visible. The channel in between is full of fish cages where the fry are developed. The dark objects are probably nets with small huts at a corner of each structure. Kukup is a tourist attraction because of its seafood, and the restaurants are located at the end of the road on which a number of cars and buses are parked. Various developments are happening in the area, including planting of commercial trees and poultry farming.
